Gettin’ High With Jesus

According to a recent article at CNN.com bCNWPv, portraits of Jesus were recently found stuffed with approximately 30 pounds of marijuana per portrait. This bust took place along the US-Mexico border. It is apparently not the first time that religious icons have been used  to smuggle illegal drugs.

According to William Molaski, the port director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency, “What some might find offensive or sacrilegious has unfortunately become a standard operating procedure for drug smugglers. This would include using religious symbols, children and senior citizens in their attempts to defeat the CBP inspection process.”

The most recent drug bust occurred when a 22-year-old woman claimed she had nothing to declare besides the framed art. When officers checked her car, a drug-sniffing dog targeted three of the pieces in the woman’s vehicle. She was arrested on the spot.
