Happy “Everybody Draw Mohommed Day”!!

On various websites around the world I have seen a number of wonderful depictions of the prophet Mohammed.  Some were beautiful. Some were insulting and some were thought provoking. Of all the ones I’ve seen, this is my favorite:

It is respectful and symbolic of the culture as I understand it.

I will link to other images for those who are interested.

What I find not very surprising is that the “Everybody Draw Mohammad Day” page on Facebook has been overrun and buried under spam. The Muslim posters there did not even bother to wait and see what would be posted. They have simply deluged the page. If you click on the links, you have to force quit your browser to get out of the never-ending loop of crap.

As you may be aware, the original creator of “Everybody Draw Mohammad Day” abandoned ship, calling herself “an idiot” for starting the concept in the first place.

For those you would like to view Mohammad artwork, here are some links:

This website (http://www.theobjectivestandard.com/blog/index.php/2010/05/drawings-of-mohammed-in-defense-of-life-last-call/) should have drawings forthcoming.

In amongst the spam, there are some drawings hereon the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=113257775375783&ref=mf

“Everybody Draw Mohammad Day” has actually brought about people in Pakistan threatening to boycott Facebook. This news story http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/05/19/facebook-fracas-breaks-everybody-draw-mohammad-day/?test=latestnews on Fox news is just one of the media outlets covering the story.

The creators of “South Park”, as you probably know, were threatened for depicting Mohammad in a bear suit. You couldn’t even SEE the prophet and death threats were leveled. Because I refuse to be bullied, I had planned to put up my own drawing of Mohammad. I had surgery on Monday however and didn’t have a chance to do a good drawing. So here’s my crappy little drawing: Ladies and gentlemen: The Prophet Mohammad:
