Volcanoes: Here, There and Everywhere

Here is a great article about volcanoes. It talks about not only the volcanoes here, but the ones on other planets in our solar system.

For some reason, at my primary school (age 4-12ish in those days, I guess) in northern England, we were taught to be terrified of volcanoes. So much in fact that my sister had nightmares for *years* about volcanoes. I think we’re pretty safe for the time being.

I don’t know why the teachers were obsessed with volcanoes but given that they were, couldn’t they have taught us how awesome they are rather than to fear them, given that England will never see one?
